History/Info:
The East Pier light was constructed to take the place of the older Michigan City Light on shore. Legend has it that during the 1920s Al Capone would frequently drive by in his speedboat on his way to his house in Long Beach, going by water to avoid being ambushed by rivals.

The Breakwater Light was constructed at the same time that the breakwater itself was rebuilt after being destroyed in a storm the previous winter.

• From I-94 take exit 40 onto Route 35 north towards Michigan City.
• Stay on Route 35 for 4.3 miles then turn left onto Route 12.
• As soon as you turn onto Route 12 take a right onto Pine St.
• Pine St. will turn into Franklin St. Continue over the river onto Lakeshore Drive.
• On the left you will see Old Michigan Light. Continue on Lakeshore Drive and into the State Park to see Michigan City East Pierhead Light.
