History/Info:
Long Island lighthouse sits at the northern tip of Long Island, the largest island in Boston Harbor. Originally there was a keepers house along with the lighthouse but today only the lighthouse remains. The light is powered by solar power. There is a road connecting the island to the mainland but is closely guarded and the public is not allowed over the bridge.

Latitude/Longitude: 42°20'N 70°58'W

Directions:

  • Since there is no access to the island over land, the only views of the lighthouse are from the water. There are many boats going to the Boston Harbor islands during the summer; most of those boats pass Long Island light offering good views. See our Lighthouse Tours page for additional information.
