Nauset Light is located along the Cape Cod National Seashore near Nauset
Beach. The light tower was originally the north tower at Chatham, which at
the time had twin towers. But in 1923 that north tower was moved to
Eastham to become Nauset Light.
Because of coastal erosion over the years the lighthouse was sitting precariously close to the edge of a
cliff. In 1996 the lighthouse was moved back a safe distance and a few
years later the keeper's house was also moved back to rejoin itself next
to the light tower. During the summer you can take a tour of the light tower,
climb the steps to the top and see the alternating red and white beacon
above you.
