History/Info:
Straitsmouth Island sits along the northern coast of Massachusetts called Cape Ann. It is just south of the town of Rockport. The light tower and keeper's house was built on the island in 1835 to aid mariners coming to Rockport. The original 19 foot tower built in 1835 was replaced by the current 37 foot tower in 1896.

The entire island, except for the light tower, was donated to the Massachusetts Audubon Society in the 60's. Since that time the keepers house has falledn into terrible disrepair. The Mass Audubon Society is more concerned about the island's bird inhabitants, thus no effort has been made by them to repair the house.
