Curtis Island Lighthouse and
Marshall Point Lighthouse, both in
midcoast Maine.
September 23, 2005

Egg Rock Lighthouse in Maine. Video
available for both RealPlayer and Windows Media Player.
Also replaced old video of
Bass Harbor Lighthouse in Maine
with new higher quality video. Video also available for RealPlayer
and Windows Media Player.

Player for most lighthouses with streaming video (includes all of
Maine videos as well as others).

Lighthouse.

you enter on this site so your privacy is secured.

Our friend in Italy has sent us over 30 new
lighthouse photos since last time we updated the
Italy page. All regions have new
lighthouses and we've added two new regions -
Lazio and
Marche.
February 21, 2005
Added three new lighthouses to
the Maine Lighthouse page. These
lighthouses are in the
Penobscot region, called Tenants
Harbor, Two Bush Island, and
Whitehead Island. Also added
streaming video for Owl's Head and Two Bush Island (the sea was too
rough to get video of Tenants Harbor and Whitehead Island).
February 20, 2005
After much work I've finally
updated all the photo slideshows to HTML based slideshows. In the
past we used a Java applet to view the slideshows. Although it was
fancier looking, I recieved some reports over time that people were
unable to run the applet. I don't know if it was a problem with the
browser they were using, the version of Java on their system, or
something wrong with the applet itself. But enough was enough. All
slideshows on the Cyberlights page are now 100% HTML. No Java
applets to be found. They should run on everyones' system and every
graphical browser. If you DO have a problem, please
let us know.
February 3, 2005
Added 7 new lighthouses to the
Connecticut Lighthouse page. The
photos are from a trip we took all the way back in August, 2004.
Needless to say I've been lazy about getting these lighthouses
added.
June 12, 2004
We took a quick one day trip back up to midcoast Maine
and happened to be able to finally see Halfway
Rock Light from Lands End on Bailey Island. It needs to be a really
clear day to be able to see the light 5 miles out, and we got lucky this
time. We also stopped at Pemaquid Point Light,
climbed the tower, and added some of these new photos to the
Pemaquid page.
June 8, 2004
We've added a new page to Cyberlights. This page is a
Lighthouse Events Calendar. With this new
page you can see what lighthouse events are occurring on a particular
date, and you can even ADD YOUR OWN EVENT to the calendar! Pretty cool.
Currently there are only a few events listed. As time
permits I'll be adding the events listed in the back of the Lighthouse
Digest magazine.
UPDATE: As of June 9, all events listed in
Lighthouse Digest are contained in our Events
Calendar.
May 24, 2004
We drove out to Toronto for a long weekend and along
the way stopped off at 8 lighthouses - three in New York and five in
Ontario. You can see the Ontario lights in the new Canada section for the
Province of Ontario. The New
York lights are in a new New York page for the
Lake Ontario region. The lighthouses we saw were:
New York - Old Fort Niagara*,
Thirty Mile Point*,
Charlotte-Genesee*
Ontario - Port Dalhousie
Range, Port Weller,
Burlington Range*,
Oakville,
Queen's Wharf, Gibraltar Point.
* = includes streaming video of lighthouse
April 6, 2004
After a long winter we've finally hit the road again
search of more lighthouses. This last day trip took us back to
Rhode Island to see 5 more lighthouse. Those
lighthouses are Bristol Ferry,
Hog Island Shoal,
Conanicut, Plum
Beach, and Dutch Island.
We also added some more lighthouses from Italy courtesy
of our friend Egidio Ferrighi. The three lighthouses are in the
Tuscany region (Toscana). Theses
lights are Viareggio,
Old Viareggio, and
Marina di Carrara.
October 14, 2003
Our friend in Italy, Egidio Ferrighi, sent us more of
his lighthouse photos. He recently took another trip to
Sardegna, where he saw 11 more
lighthouses. During that trip he took a side trip to the French island of
Corsica, where he saw 2 lighthouses.
Now we have a page dedicated to
Northern Sardegna, and a new country added to the site -
France (although only two
lighthouses - both on Corsica).
October 9, 2003
Add three new lighthouses to the
Massachusetts -
Cape Cod page. Those lights are
Cape Poge,
East Chop, and West Chop. Also added
many more photos for Gay Head and
Edgartown Harbor lights.
July 18, 2003
For the first time in a long time I added a new country
to the page - Croatia. A few
months ago our friend from Italy, Egidio Ferrighi, visited Rijeka,
Croatia, and took a photograph of the lighthouse he saw there. He promptly
sent me the photograph, and now you can see it at our
Croatia Lighthouse Page. Although
there's only one lighthouse on the page, maybe someday more can be added.
July 17, 2003
Added 18 Italian lighthouses to the
Italy Lighthouse Page. Yes, that's
right, 18 more. Many thanks goes to our friend over in Italy, Egidio
Ferrighi, for supplying us with the photos of the lighthouses as well as
information about some of them.
July 16, 2003
Finished up the new
Oregon Lighthouse Page. Eight of Oregon's lighthouses are contained
within this section. I believe there's only two that we didn't get to see.
July 15, 2003
It's been a while since I've done any actual lighthouse
updates! Many other pages have been updated since February such as the
Lighthouse Links,
Lighthouse Tours, and Where to Stay
pages. We took a vacation in May to the west coast of the US, from San
Francisco north to Portland, Oregon. During that trip we saw many
lighthouses. I've just put the California lighthouses that we saw online.
You can see them at the Cyberlights
California Lighthouse Page.
July 14, 2003
Big new addition to the Cyberlights pages. I've added a
Bulletin Board/Discussion Forum. Here you can
chat about all sorts of lighthouse topics including preservation and
society meeting/event announcements, general discussion, trip reports, a
photo gallery, and more!
February 21, 2003
Took me a while to get some updates on the page. We've
added 4 lighthouses from New York and three
from Vermont from a trip we took in
November, 2002. Also added two more
Florida lighthouses from a weekend trip we took the beginning of
February.
September 17, 2002
Added sections for two more states -
Ohio and
Pennsylvania. On the Ohio page we've
added 16 lighthouses. On the Pennsylvania
page we've added 3 lighthouses.
August 2, 2002
Got some great photos of 7 more lighthouses of Italy
from our friend over in Italy, Egidio Ferrighi. It's getting to the point
now where the Italy lighthouse page should instead be called "Egidio's
Lighthouse Page". This is the only place on our entire lighthouse page
where we do not use our own photos, and have visited the lighthouse
ourselves. But we've seen a few of Italy's lighthouses and Egidio has been
kind enough to send us other photos as he visits the lighthouses Here are
the 7 new lighthouse photos he sent us :
Capo Spartivento
Ponte Romano
Tower of Sant Efisio
Punta S. Ranieri
Faro di Chioggia
Faro di Malamocco
La Pagoda

Michigan. But there are so many more to see in Michigan. But 4 is a start!
To see the lighthouses from the various states, click below:

Also, last weekend we visited some friends up at
Newfound Lake in New Hampshire. There are two small lighthouses on this
lake. One is called Reed's Light. The other is
apparently unnamed, but I've called it Newfound
Lake light. Check out the New Hampshire page
to check out these two lighthouses. Also, if anyone has any further
information on these two lighthouses, please
let me know.

you can choose between the 26 jigsaw puzzles, Concentration, or Word Seek.
Have fun!
March 20, 2002
Set up new section of site, Lighthouse Jigsaw Puzzles.
There are puzzles for 26 different lighthouses. The puzzles are fairly
simple, but lots of fun! Go to the Jigsaw Puzzle
page and give them a try.
March 6, 2002
My Dad gave me a couple of photos he took of Alcatraz
Island. One is from a US Navy ship he was on which cruised into San
Francisco Bay back in 1954. The other is from a boat trip he and my Mom
took back in 1981. As a result of these photos I've set up an
Alcatraz Island Light page.
February 27, 2002
Added a local hit counter. The original one was linked
to my provider's counter system. I've installed my own CGI script so I
don't have to rely on someone else's stuff.
Also added a link request form to the
Lighthouse Links page. This form pops up in a new
window where you can enter the necessary information, then you click on
the "Email it!" button to send the request off.
February 24, 2001
I got inspired over the weekend and put my
own postcard page on Cyberlights. You can now send
a virtual postcard of one of 17 lighthouses from the Cyberlights page. You
can choose your text color, background color, and enter your own personal
message. The postcard will be kept on the site for about a week.
February 21, 2002
Cyberlights became a member of the
AllPosters.com affiliate program. From our Art
& Books page you can see a few of the posters/paintings we have and
also go to the
AllPosters.com page to see almost
300 lighthouse posters/prints that they have.
Also set up a page for Virtual Lighthouse
postcards. Lasha Seniuk from
Astrology at Mystic
Stars asked if she could use some of our lighthouse photos for her
Virtual Postcards page. We were more than happy to let her pick her
favorites. So please go to our Postcards page
and then hop on over to
Lasha's lvirtual lighthouse postcard page and send a friend a Virtual
Lighthouse postcard!

Opera Software, makers of the Opera web browser,
released version 6.01 of their browser. This maintenance release of the
browser fixes a bug in the way the Opera browser handled some java
applets. As a result I was able to test the Cyberlights site with version
6.01 and am happy to say that the java slideshows now work! So Opera is
supported a this site. To get the latest version of the Opera browser,
February 7, 2002
Updated all the slideshows on the Cyberlights
Lighthouse site. They are all running new java applet code that enables
users of Netscape 6.x to view the slideshows (old applets would not work).
There is a bug in Opera browser version 6.0 that prevent Opera users from
viewing the slideshows, but Opera support is supposed to be fixing this in
the next maintenance release. Stay tuned.
January 27, 2002
Hey, we won three more awards! The Golden Apple, iNet
Merit, and Cyberweb3 Design Excellence - Bronze, awards!
Check out the awards page to see them. We're very
proud of these.
January 25, 2002
- Redesigned main page (index.htm) of Cyberlights.
Instead of the old black background the front page now uses the same
background as all the other pages on the Cyberlights Lighthouse page.
- Added Awards page. Since we've received more
than 2 awards it was time to make a separate awards page. You can see
it by clicking here.
- Added FREE Screensavers page. We created two
screensaver files (.scr) for other lighthouse enthusiasts to download
and enjoy. One file is of New England lighthouses, which contains
photos of 30 New England Lighthouses. The other file is of Maine
Lighthouses, which has photos of 32 Maine lighthouses.
Click here to go to that page.
December 3, 2001
- Added a page for the Lightship WLV-612, also
known as the San Francisco, and eventually the Nantucket I. In 1954 my
Dad took a picture of another boat, and in the background was the San
Francisco. The ship is currently docked in Quincy, Ma. but we haven't
been able to get there to check it out. Until then, the page will remain
on the California state page, since the only picture we have is when it
was called the San Francisco, patrolling SF Bay.
Click here to see the page.
November 28, 2001
- Added 8 new Massachusetts lighthouses to the
page. These are a result of a day trip we took to southern Mass, in the
Fall River, New Bedford, and Falmouth areas of the state on 11/23. The
lighthouses we saw were:
Bird Island
Borden Flats
Butler Flats
Clark's Point
Cleveland Ledge(from a distance)
Ned Point
Nobska Point(been there before, but added more pictures to the page)
Palmer Island
Wings Neck
- During our trip mentioned above we came across a
rare find in the town of Wareham. The lightship Nantucket II is docked
there undergoing restoration. We were lucky enough to spot it and
snapped off a whole bunch of pictures. You can see some of our pictures
by clicking here.
